| Why
use satellite? Why not just use our company's WAN or the Internet? |
Satellites
are the most cost-effective option for broadcasting high quality
video communications from a single point to multiple points around
the country or around the world. Satellites are also the most cost-effective
option for delivering streaming IP video services to the desktop.
The
term VSAT, or very small aperture terminal, refers to a satellite-based
wide area networking solution that offers high-speed, delivery of
any sort of content from a central data center to a large number
of remote locations. Designed to offer a more cost-effective, reliable
and simpler alternative to terrestrial circuits, VSATs leverage
the unique capabilities of a satellite-based architecture to provide
capabilities that cannot be easily implemented in terrestrial-based
networks which includes capacity to broadcast common content to
multiple locations through multicasting, ease and flexibility of
deployment and redeployment, global coverage and the ability to
be placed anywhere, independent of existing infrastructure.
| What
kinds of companies use VSAT ? |
Oil
exploration companies, car dealerships, gas stations, lottery systems,
banks, insurance companies, drug stores, general stores, supermarkets,
health care companies, manufacturers, couriers, hotel chains, car
rental businesses, food manufacturers, heavy industries, mines,
electrical utilities, oil and gas pipelines, energy production and
exploration, timber companies, plantations, various government departments
and agencies...the list is endless.
| What
are the advantages of a VSAT network versus a terrestrial network
? |
VSAT
networking has proven to be substantially more cost-effective than
other wide-area networking technologies. VSAT technology has an
unmatched ability to support a wide range of devices and applications.
Satellite is the only broadband WAN technology universally available
across any given country and cross continentally. VSAT technology
provides a uniquely convenient environment for accommodating network
and bandwidth expansion as well as migration to new applications
and interface requirements. Given that they are independent of terrestrial
infrastructure, VSATs can be easily installed at remote sites, often
in less than a day. From installation to maintenance, the VSAT network
is completely fulfilled by one vendor and negates the need to deal
with multiple phone companies. VSATs offer an economy of scale.
Fast, reliable broadband can be delivered to hundreds, even thousands
of sites simultaneously and at the same price as delivery to just
one site. VSATs generally offer rates from 64 Kbps up to 45 Mbps.
By moving your bandwidth-intensive traffic onto a satellite network
and eliminating duplicated transmissions, VSATs allow you to better
use your current infrastructure.
Satellite's
true advantage over standard terrestrial networks is derived from
its inherent capabilities as a broadcast medium. By leveraging these
capabilities a satellite network increases the effectiveness of
corporate communication, bandwidth, time and money on a scale that
delivers tangible, bottom-line results.
| What
are the primary advantages of DVB ? |
The
primary advantages are:
>>
Low-cost receivers.
>> Smaller, submeter antennas.
>> Higher data rates up to 58 Mbps.
>> Easy installation and maintenance.
>> The DVB common scrambling algorithm ensures the customer's
information arrives securely and is not received by rogue subscribers.
>> Reception of multiple IP multicast and digital data channels
through a single VSAT.
>> Open standards translates into more choice at a lower cost.
Supports any IP-based service, e.g., IP multicasting, video streaming,
distance learning, business TV, news feeds, telemedicine, etc. Enables
IP multicast services such as CyberStar and Fantastic.
>> Ethernet interface .
>> Scalability.
>> Eliminates need for expensive high-speed serial interface
(HSSI) router interface.
>> Favorable regulatory rules, i.e., zoning regulations alleviated
in many cases by the smaller size antennas.
| Do
you accept international orders ? |

Broadband
is a term with used to describe high-speed internet access services
with the connotation that it can handle large volumes of information
and in addition to web access, will be used for such advanced options
as movie-deliveries, life music/concerts, high-intensity business
needs and for similar needs.
| What
is satellite Broadcasting ? |
A signal
is beamed into space by an "up link", received by an satellite,
electronically processed, and "down linked" back to earth.
A receive dish detects the signal and electronic equipment processes
it.
| What
is satellite foot print ? |
A satellite
foot print defines the geographic area covered by a particular satellite.
Low
noise block down converter (LNB) is an integral part of any satellite
receive dish equipment. The LNB detects the signal relayed from
the satellite, converts it to an electrical current, amplifies it,
and down converts it to a lower frequency.
A transponder
is the hardware equipment on the satellites. It is a combination
of receivers and transmitters for a single data stream.
| What
is satellite antenna ? |
A large
reflector that focuses the received signal on a small antenna and
LNB unit mounted in front of the reflector.
| What
kind of equipment do I need to receive your service ? |
Depending
upon your need, you can find equipment requirements here.
| What
is the Recever's function in a PC ? |
The
receiver enables you to connect a PC to the DTH (Direct to Home)
satellite receiver dish. The receiver, including the associated
software and firmware allows the satellite networks and broadcasters
to deliver a variety of services including news, financial information,
entertainment, and industry-specific information to you on your
desktop with tremendous ease and speed.
| Do
Logitech provide 2-way satellite service? |
Yes,
Logitech provide service for the access to the Internet. The uplink
channel can be a dial-up PPP, DSL, Cable, leased-line, VSAT connection
or other network interconnection services offered by the licensed
local service providers.
